Euphoria creator Sam Levinson has officially given fans an update on the show’s upcoming third season, revealing some key details about what every character will be up to when the show premieres next year.
What are the new Euphoria Season 3 details?
In a recent interview with Variety, Levinson opened up about Euphoria Season 3, which is set to premiere in April on HBO. Picking up five years after the second season finale, Levinson revealed what the main cast of characters will be up to when the third season begins. When it comes to Sydney Sweeney‘s Cassie, Levinson surprised fans by noting that she and Nate (Jacob Elordi) will actually be getting married, and live in the suburbs.
“Cassie [Sweeney] is living in the suburbs with Nate [Elordi], they’re engaged and she’s very addicted to social media and envious of what appears to be the big lives that all of her high school classmates are living at this point in time…I will say that Cassie and Nate do in fact get married. I’m confirming it. And I promise that it will be an unforgettable night.”
As for other characters, Zendaya‘s Rue will be south of the border, in Mexico, as she looks to try and scrounge up money to pay off the debt she’s accrued from the mysterious and scary Laurie (Martha Kelly). “We basically pick up Rue [Zendaya] south of the border in Mexico, in debt to Laurie [Kelly], trying to come up with some very innovative ways to pay it off.”
Levinson also updated the status of several other characters. Jules (Hunter Schafer) will be in art school, and “very nervous about having a career as a painter and trying to avoid responsibility at all costs.” Maddie (Alexa Demie) and Lexi (Maude Apatow) will be out in Hollywood, each doing their own thing.
“Maddy [Demie] is working in Hollywood at a talent agency for a manager, she’s obviously got her own side hustles going. And Lexi [Apatow] is an assistant to a showrunner played by Sharon Stone, who is just absolutely delightful and a true icon.”
While it might surprise some fans that the series’ third season picks up five years after the Season 2 finale, Levinson said that it made the most sense, especially due to the real-life gap in time between Seasons 2 and 3.
“Five years felt like a natural place because if they’d gone to college they’d be out of college at that time.”
