Huawei Consumer Business Group Chairman of the Board of Directors Richard Yu has some good news for fans of both the brand and satellite connectivity. He promises that Huawei will expand satellite connectivity to lower-priced devices, so it won’t be confined to high-end models only.

This will be a new chapter in the company’s journey, and it’s necessary because, according to Yu, mobile networks don’t cover enough of the world. Thus, connectivity struggles still exist. So, satellite tech is the solution.

Yu also promised that satellite connectivity will come to affordable smartwatches, gradually becoming a standard feature. The service that Huawei will provide will allow for sending and receiving texts, not just in emergencies.

Yu says Huawei has developed AI encoding and decoding to make transmitting voice messages through satellites easier. With the AI tech, the encoder compresses the message, then the decoder restores the data in its original format.
