The victim was wounded in the neck at 4:04 p.m. during a confrontation in front of the Palazzo at the Venetian Resort.

The unnamed victim had walked over to the suspect’s car before the burst of gunfire. The wounded man passed away at the scene. No one else appears to have been injured.

The suspect was a thin man, according to police. He has light skin and was wearing a hat that was on his head backwards.

No word on his age or the clothes he was wearing.

Roads Closed

The shooter fled in a silver Subaru WRX, before Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) officers got to the crime scene.

As officers investigated the shooting late Monday afternoon, Las Vegas Boulevard was closed in both directions between Sands Avenue and Sirens Cove Drive, according to Las Vegas TV station KVVU.

In addition, Sands Avenue was closed in both directions between Las Vegas Boulevard and Koval Lane, RTC Southern Nevada announced.

Suspect on the Lam

The suspect remained at large as of Monday evening. Numerous LVMPD cars were seen near the Venetian Las Vegas as of early Monday evening.

It’s unclear if officers have a likely identity on the suspect. Nor was it known what kind of firearm he used in the shooting. Nor was it clear what led to the road rage incident.

Police likely spoke to witnesses of the shooting, as well as reviewed surveillance video from nearby properties on the Las Vegas Strip.

If the shooter is apprehended, and later charged and convicted, he could face many years in prison.

The victim will likely undergo an autopsy.  The Clark County coroner’s office will confirm the victim’s identity, as well as reveal the cause and manner of death.

The shooting was believed to be a homicide. The victim’s family will be notified about the killing.

More details on the shooting were expected to be released by the LVMPD later on Monday night.
