Currently based in Queens, New York, Oakley’s work is rooted in a desire to capture the intimacies hidden within people and their surrounding environments. Her ongoing project, “Cloud County,” is based in Concordia, Kansas and focuses on the Sisters of St. Joseph. This community has been at the heart of her work since 2017. The series focuses on the notion of home, the resilience of sisterhood, and the aftermath of what happens when the pillars of a community are no longer.
